-We are an active family focused on accountability, tolerance, and accomplishment.
-We have four children, 8, 6, 2, and newborn.
-Mom is a stay-at-home mother with a background in journalism and a history of engagement in social causes.
-Dad is an entrepreneur who sometimes works from home, but often needs to be away from dawn 'til well after dusk.
-We have no pets, but enjoy almost daily opportunities to observe wildlife.
-Our school-aged kids attend a local Mandarin-immersion school.
-Our family culture is fun-loving, even though our standards are very high.
-Our home is strictly non-smoking.
We are looking for a responsible, capable, detail-oriented housekeeper/assistant nanny to join our team immediately. The individual in this position will be responsible for standard housekeeping duties, including cooking, and relief child care (helping to plan/manage outings, assisting with bathing children and/or babysitting 2-3 times each week).
Note: Attention to detail and willingness to take direction, training, and feedback are more important than prior possession of all necessary skills.
Working couples are welcome to apply, if the second person has skills and experience in yard, property, or vehicle maintenance.
We have facilities to make live-in arrangements possible, but will consider a live-out situation.
Compensation will depend on experience and will be competitive. Benefits (health/dental/PTO) are available.
Working hours will primarily be in the morning and afternoon, with occasional evening shifts. We will communicate scheduling needs clearly and respectfully. We will start at about 25 hours/week, and will increase hours as our trust in you grows and as we can see that you are capable and responsible.

-Experience caring for a diverse wardrobe
-Ability to maintain a calm temperament
-Willingness to enforce rules with discipline and compassion when working with our children
-Ability to keep and support healthy routines
-Ability to keep up with our family physically
-Punctuality
-Honesty
-Ability to accept direction and manage a number of tasks
-Initiative to take care of problems and clean up literal and metaphorical messes
-Ability to take and benefit from feedback
Additional requirements:
-Valid driver license with relatively clean driving record (own transport not necessary)
-Must pass background check
-Must agree to unannounced drug testing
Extras that may give you an edge in the hiring process:
-Facility with any of the following cuisines is a HUGE plus: Indian, Greek, any North African cuisine, Levantine/Syrian, any Middle Eastern cuisine, any cuisine of the Caucasus, any Mediterranean cuisine
-Experience with multi-lingual situations a plus
-Mandarin language skills a plus (WE WILL PAY CONSIDERABLY MORE FOR SOMEONE WHO SPEAKS MANDARIN AND READS/WRITES SIMPLIFIED WITH EASE)
-Other language skills may be a plus
-Classical music experience (especially strings) a plus
-Willingness to travel occasionally with our family a plus (to that end, a US passport is a plus)
Duties include:
-Vacuuming, dusting, damp-mopping, disinfecting
-Care of leather furniture
-Regular but infrequent steam cleaning
-Laundering and ironing
-Shoe care
-Arranging for dry cleaning as needed
-Stacking and unloading the dishwasher
-Washing dishes by hand
-Assisting with kitchen/pantry inventory management
-Cooking and (assisting with) meal planning
-Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen
-Managing rubbish and recyclables
-Periodic deep cleaning
-Assisting to keep children engaged and happy
-Assisting to design, plan, and set up crafts and other age-appropriate projects for children
-Assisting to plan and supervise during educational, cultural, and recreational outings
-Assisting to arrange and supervise playdates
-Running errands, including taking kids to school and extra-curricular activities
-Assisting with light gardening
-Other tasks as needs demand
