Join One Brick for a rewarding opportunity to enjoy fresh air and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, while restoring the native flora along Pacifica State Beach. Pacifica's Environmental Family will provide us with a tour of the beach to explain the beach plants and some of the beach birds, including the snowy plover.

We will be removing ice plants, the yellow flowered oxalis and other invasive plants.

At the Interfaith Clothing Center, donated clothing, household items, school supplies, infant items, toys and children's books are distributed to low-income residents of Montgomery County. By providing basic necessities free of charge, the clothing center enables its clients to use their scarce financial resources for other pressing needs such as rent, food, transportation, and healthcare. The clothing centers are in need of volunteers to sort and hang donated merchandise.

About Rockville Interfaith Clothing Center:
The ICCs have been helping qualified low-income families in Montgomery Country stretch their dollars for over 20 years. Coming from every corner of Montgomery County, clients are young and old, male and female, single and married, and span all races. They are working poor, homeless, disabled, recent immigrants, parolees, welfare recipients and seniors living on fixed incomes. Over one 100 congregations, social service organizations and government agencies refer clients to their centers. Thousands of individuals, businesses, schools, camps, service organizations and congregations donate time and goods, which makes their program possible. Donations of clothing, shoes, and household items are distributed to its clients during shopping hours throughout the week. Clients select and receive free of charge, the items they need and want. Interfaith Works assists over 5,000 low-income and homeless families, over 15,000 individuals, yearly in this way. By providing basic necessities free of charge they enable their clients to use their scarce financial resources for other pressing needs, including rent, food, transportation, and health care.

About Arlington Invasive Plant Control Program:
The Arlington County Invasive Plant Program tackles the problem of invasive plants in Arlington. Volunteers help control invasive plants in Arlington by taking part in hands-on removal of invasive plants from County property, assisting with education efforts, helping with surveys, mapping of target areas and/or program development. All ages and abilities welcome.

From DC, take I-66 to Exit 71, Glebe Road. Turn left on Glebe Road. Turn right (west) on Washington Blvd. Take Washington Blvd. 0.6 miles to N. Frederick St. Turn left on N. Help lay tile at a Community Center

One or two volunteers are needed for 4 consecutive days between now and November 24 to help lay tile at the grassroots nonprofit Community Center at the Community Center of St Bernard. Experience is nice but not needed since volunteers will work under the supervision of professional tiler who is happy to teach the basics of his trade. Paint Party for Peace

This Saturday, Nov. 7th from 2pm-5pm at the park on the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and South Liberty, United for Peace in New Orleans will be hosting a Paint Party for Peace for all the kids of New Orleans. We will be painting in black and gold, we will be painting Peace doors, canvas, etc. in preparation for our big Peace Pilgrimage Nov. 14th. Soldiers love care packages. Spouse sending care packages out to a unit over seas. If you would be interested in more info fell free to contact me. Either i can collect the iteams from you or you could send cards or packages directly to the men and woman. If you can think of some thing in you home at this moment a soldier is probally missing it. Left over halloween candy, holiday decor, slim jims, m&m's, dvds, cds. Yes the military does provide some of the soldiers basics. Yet things from home just makes there routen lifes go by smoothly. Can pick up in metairie, kenner, river ridge, slidell, laplace, marrero, new orleans or any of the surronding areas. Or if you would like to drop off at any of these loctaions that would be great. I could also pick up after grage sales etc. Also if there is any thing you would want to send a soldier. or Would like to know how to adopt a soldier fell free to contact me. If your intersted in sending thank you cards or birthday, holdiay, etc. cards fell free to contact me about those sort of programs as well. Soldiers love cards from school groups and or letters about people state side. Minatures- mini sized every thing or travel size hand sanitizer, mini m&m's, combs& brushes. Silly- stickers, toy cars, crazy pictures eevn if printed from an e-mail, any thing to make the laugh. Help the Tulane Infant

The Infant and Toddler Development Project is currently conducting several research projects with respect to how children play with objects and how they manipulate their movement as they gain control of their arms and hands. The visit will be less than 30 minutes, you will be with your child at all times, and your child will receive a gift for participation. The projects currently underway involve 6-month-old infants and 12-31-month-old toddlers. Research Participants Needed

Ongoing Research Participation Opportunity! The Youth Social and Emotional Development (YSED) Lab in the Psychology Department at the University of New Orleans is conducting a study on parenting and adolescent behavior and is still in need of participants. The study involves parents with children between 11 and 17 years old. Participants are required to fill out a series of questionnaires and complete some computer tasks.
