Position Summary:
Responsible for achieving and modifying financial targets in the most profitable category for Blockbuster. It involves key negotiations with studio partners in determining purchase recommendations and special opportunities to drive both revenue and margin in the competitive Rental Film category.
Responsibilities:
-Provide purchase recommendations for all Non Key titles in the monthly Open to Buy meetings and prepare appropriate OTB documentation. Identify and capitalize on Non Key New Release product specific opportunities to drive revenue, communicate to rest of organization (i.e. Hidden Gems, Critics Pix, and TV). -Responsible for vendor negotiations including advertising support, cost rebates, and volume incentives. Liaise with Marketing, Operations and Finance on product purchases. -Work with Marketing and Operations on a monthly basis to provide information for advertising vehicles, placement of product in stores, and any further communication required. -Provide support and advice to Merchandise Allocator concerning title allocations, and in finding supply chain efficiencies. Work closely with Logistics to ensure appropriate distribution of product. -Forecast Rental and Previously Viewed margin and turns for Non Key Titles in a 26 week period using current forecasting model. Adjust and modify this model accordingly with the changes in the business demands. -Key owner of BSI including: Backfills of top renting BSI, determine criteria to move into BSI, CORE list evaluations and low rent pulls. Provide support and advice to Merchandise Planner concerning BSI opportunities and management. -Negotiate revenue share agreements with Non Key studios. Familiarity with the Revenue Share agreements with key studios to help maximize rental revenue and margin, negotiate purchase quantities and special terms when necessary. -Respond to store inquiries and questions regarding product -Look for opportunities to improve/ differentiate rental film offering in a competitive industry.
Areas of Knowledge/Technical Skills:
-Personal computer skills to include advanced Excel – including advanced formula’s -Crystal reporting, Access or some sort of Data Warehouse is required. Education/ Work Experience:
-Minimum 3-5 years multi-unit retail merchandising experience, specifically in merchandise procurement, negotiating, and financial forecasting. -Exceptional analytical and communication skills -Degree or diploma in Business preferred.
